Many people who enjoy the work of Degas did not know that he had relatives in New Orleans and did some of his best work in that city. Today, his paintings of dancers are best known, but Degas was a well rounded gentleman about town, stopping in popular clubs, the race track, etc., illustrating what he had observed.
